Robert was born in the UK, where he spent his childhood on a rural dairy & sheep farm until moving to Canada at the age of 10. In Canada his family operate an organic apple orchard in the Okanagan Valley.
In choosing a career path and lifestyle I have long being drawn towards a hands-on therapy which could fulfill my interests in human health, exercise and wellness. Growing up in a healthcare oriented family, including a sister who has been an RMT for 12 years, exposed me to the personal gratification that comes with making a positive difference in another person’s life. During my first degree, I spent the summers working as a care aid with an association for developmentally challenged people. The positive and rewarding experiences I had working alongside and assisting these people reinforced and further developed my qualities of patience, genuine caring, understanding, and ability to communicate effectively under what were sometimes challenging conditions.
My interests in health and hands-on therapy led me to spend many hours work-shadowing both physio and massage therapists. Following a minor whiplash 7 years ago, I felt what it was like to be on the receiving end of a few months of chiropractic, physiotherapy and massage therapy. This personal experience attracted me to the approach and client-therapist interaction offered by massage therapy, and led to my appreciation of the complimentary value all these therapies offer to a patient.

Massage Therapy offers a career working one-on-one with people in a caring environment, as well as working cooperatively with other professionals to provide the best care for the client. Important in my decision to choose massage therapy is the opportunity it offers for continuous learning and development; both academically and emotionally.
