R.M.T. stands for Registered Massage Therapist.
RMT is a reserved title in British Columbia and can be used only by therapists who have taken the minimum 3000 hour Diploma in Massage Therapy and who have passed the academic & practical examinations set forth by the College of Massage Therapists of BC. Massage Therapy is regulated under the Health Professions Act of British Columbia. The high level of training for RMT permits clients to utilize their eligible Extended Health Benfits and MSP to cover a portion of their massage treatment.
Massage Therapists are health care professionals committed to restoring and maintaining optimal health and pain-free functioning of the body.

Massage Therapy provides an effective approach to disease prevention by managing stress and creating a sense of relaxation and well being. It is also highly effective in treating and providing relief for a wide range of conditions such as headaches, overuse & repetitive strain injuries, postural deviations, tendonitis, arthritis, osteoporosis, fibromyalgia and sports injuries, as well as many other common conditions related to soft tissue and joint dysfunction.

Massage Therapists are trained to assess a wide variety of conditions, and devise appropriate treatments using techniques including massage and manual therapy, joint mobilization, hydrotherapy, or rehabilitative exercises such as stretching, strengthening, and postural exercise. Massage Therapists also provide patients with the information they need to improve outcomes and, in the case of injuries, to prevent relapse.
